Service, Pre-delivery Prep, Inspection:

For years we have applied a pre-delivery prep to our units but seldom posted about it. We have received suggestions that we should have a link showing all that we do from before we purchase the units in Japan till the keys are turned over to the customer. Good suggestion, here we go:

Before we purchase a unit:
  • It is important to start with a unit that will meet our customers needs.
  • We search for the right unit that will fit our bill.
  • The unit MUST be accident free.
  • The unit MUST be rust free.
  • The unit MUST have low Km on it and the Km MUST be confirmed.
  • The unit MUST match as close as humanly possible to the request by the buyer.
  • The unit MUST meet our requirements.
The unit will be inspected in Japan before auction by an independent inspector to CONFIRM it matches the auction sheet description. There are many liberties taken by the auction graders in the past 2 years. This prevents nasty surprises when the vehicle finally lands at our door.

Once we have won the auction:

The unit is taken back to our contacts shop and it goes up on a hoist for another inspection and a list of repairs are sent. If the list is not acceptable then the truck will go back into auction. If the list is acceptable then either the repairs are performed in Japan or once it arrives here in Canada.

Then the unit is taken for a minimum of 1-hour test drive in Japan to confirm that the unit is up to our standards and this also confirms the buyer of no unpleasant surprises.

    Ready for shipping:

The unit is then cleaned in Japan and the interior is covered with plastic to make sure no dirt or spills occurs during transit from Japan to Canada. If shipping is not possible immediately the unit is stored, free of charge, at our contacts lot till either container or RORO is acquired.

It is foolish to make promises on shipping times. We do our best to find available shipping ASAP that is economical to both the buyer and ourselves. If the buyer needs his unit earlier or requests shipping by container then the up charge is passed on to the buyer.

    Once it arrives in Canada:

It will be cleared by customs and the railed to Calgary where the rest of the procedure takes place.

The unit will then go through 2 more inspections, the Out Of Province and the Pre-buyer Inspection, which includes:
  • Compression test
  • Test of all electrical components
  • Inspection of driveline components
  • A 1-hour test drive here in Canada to confirm the unit performs satisfactory on our roads in Alberta
  • This will confirm the unit is in excellent running condition before the buyer takes possession.

    At time of inspection:

Driveline - The following work will be performed:
  • Engine coolant flushed and replaced
  • Engine oil and filter is changed out with factory filer and Rottella oil
  • Block or lower rad hose heater installed.
  • Batteries load tested and replaced if not up to specification. (We do not use Optima batteries due to concerns in recent years. All our batteries are high-end 4-year replacement units. The receipts are located on the batteries themselves for ease of warranty)
  • All belts and hoses are inspected and replaced as necessary.
  • Air filter inspected and changed if required
  • Fuel filter is changed and filled with injector purge
  • Clutch is inspected and replaced if required
  • Universal joints are inspected and changed if required
  • Brakes are inspected and changed if less than 50%
  • All glass is inspected for cracks and DOT/SAE/E stamps and replaced if required where compliant units can be found
  • All lights are inspected and brought up to DOT/SAE/E standards
  • The exhaust system is inspected and replaced if required
  • The driveline is shampooed before the procession date.
(We do not use full synthetic since there have been debates about the advantage and possible damage caused by using such. We use Chevron Delo premium for the differentials and transfer cases and we use Shell Rottella engine oils)

    Exterior:
  • The paint is inspected for wear, fading, scratches or dents and the customer is informed of any deficiencies that did not match the description that was supplied at time of purchase. The repairs are performed before or after the purchaser receives the unit. If the unit must be repaired after the procession then a date is confirmed and booked.
  • The glass is inspected for cracks and DOT/SAE/E stamps and replaced if required.
  • The lights are inspected for cracks and DOT/SAE/E stamps and the buyer is notified if the unit does not meet these codes. The lights are replaced if they do not meet these codes if possible.
  • The car is cut and polished and a high-end wax is used before the procession date.

    Interior:
  • The interior is inspected for any damage, burns, rips and the buyer is informed if anything does not meet the description given at time of purchase.
  • All electrical is inspected and tested.
  • The radio is either changed out or Satellite Radio is supplied.
  • The interior shampooed and protected before procession date.

ALL our units are sold with a 1-year hard parts warranty and a 30-day bumper-to-bumper warranty. (If abuse or neglect is noted then the warranty is void)

    At time of delivery:

Where possible, we go for a ? hr to 1-hour test drive to confirm the customer is happy with the unit and to facilitate in helping the buyer get acquainted with the quirks of driving a RHD unit on LHD roads. This confirms we have a happy customer.

We take pride in selling the highest quality units to customers that appreciate the quality and the effort in finding the right unit for them. We are as selective about who we sell to as we are about the units we sell.
