1991 Nissan Sefiro

Rusty died this April. My '82, only owner, BJ42 struck a Pontiac that ran a Yield sign dead 'midships. Thankfully no injuries. He admitted guilt to the Police and there was a witness so it was open and shut. The Pontiac was towed and totalled. The angle I hit him at only showed a bent bumper on Rusty, but the front frame was now @ 2" further to the right. For 24 years I had that wonderful Diesel Cruiser. It never let me down in the end either. Oddly, there was no vibration so drove it in the city til the end of May. You have to be a Land Cruiser fan to appreciate that.

Which is what Wayne is...a Land Cruiser fanatic. The '89 Land Cruiser I purchased from him is pictured in here. But it's too nice to drive on the Deerfoot in the winter and I only road insure it for the summer. I spoke with Wayne and he said he had a very nice car he thought I might like. It took a bit to get used to the thought of a car...I like sitting up high. But my view of cars changed. I now own that 1991 Nissan Sefiro. It's got a sportscar engine for power when you want it and an all-options luxury interior. It's a real gem of a car. With 35,000 KM on it and 15 years old it's condition outside was near-mint for paint and body. Spotlessly clean from trunk, interior, under the hood.All-in- all,a very impressive car at a reasonable price. I've had it 6 months now and thought I'd let Wayne know how much I like and appreciate the car.

Thanks Wayne.

1990 HZJ77

How Wayne is making a difference?

Well he is so passionnate about what he does that nobody in this “business” (or should I say passion) whom I know of, would come close to his quest for perfection, integrity, personal dedication and trust. He has his way of doing things but, he is this business spirit thus for sure giving it his special and personnel touch and imprint.

I bought my HZJ 77 (1990) back in August 06 and have been amazed with this vehicle.

Impressive mileage (9.5 to 10.5 l. per100 km), uncommon torque, comfort and to top it up a near to mint shape. Wayne did not even know it was in such a nice shape. I am delighted with this rig, its capabilities and Wayne’s work.

1990 Mitsubishi Delica

Here is my story. My name is Manuel Séguin. I'm 25 years old and I'm a Flight Medic with the Canadian Forces, and I"m currently working on Vancouver Island. I bought a Mitsubishy Delica 1990 from Luxury Import last September. Before somebody reffered me to Luxury Imports, I had already been looking at buying one of these vans for quite a while and before I went with him I had comparated with numerous other options ,like brokers and various internet sites. Luxury Import was the best bet. At first I was kind'a scared. I mean it's a fair amount of money that you invest, but it was all worth it . Turns out that Wayne is a very honest person and there was absolutly no surprises with him.

He treats his customers like friends and deliver the order. But the most important, he love to do what he does and it shows.

When I landed in Calgary, him and his lovely wife picked me up at the airport. My van was in even better condition than I expected. I putted more than 7000k on it since and it still works like a charm.

For me it was a great experience and I recommend Luxury import to all. If you have any question you can contact me via E-Mail at nanuelseg@hotmail.com
Et pour les francais, je peux aussi vous repondre!!

Thank you Wayne!!!

1991 PZJ77

It has been a pleasure to deal with Luxury Imports. The PZJ77 is terrific, better than advertised and well prepared for delivery. Wayne is a straight talker, honest and has made good on his commitments. The custom work done by Luxury (turbo) is tight and gives very meaningful performance improvements. Thanks again. Happy to serve as a reference.

1984 BJ70

After flipping my old BJ60 wagon into the ditch at 60km/h, I knew I needed a new vehicle. My dad had a BJ42 and a BJ60, so I knew that I wanted a Land Cruiser. I looked around at some of the left hand drive ones, but they were all rust buckets with at least 500 000 km on them. Wayne offered to help me put a new windshield in my crashed BJ60 and in his backyard I saw the truck that I always dreamed of: a rust free BJ70.

It is the ideal vehicle for my active lifestyle. The truck has just enough room to put two mountain bikes inside. It is not humungous like my old wagon. Off road it kicks ass. It's so nice and short that the back end hardly ever catches on bumps in the trail. The PTO winch is also really nice when I get stuck. The first thing that I noticed was how much quieter it runs thanks to the rotary injection pump. It is also more powerful than my old BJ60 even though the engine block is the same.

At first, I was a little nervous about the right hand drive. But now that I'm used to it, I actually prefer it. It is really nice for parallel parking. The ride is nice and smooth over bumps. Although cute, the BJ70 can seat 5 passengers at a pinch. Last but not least, this truck is very fuel efficient.

Wayne changed the oil and all the fluids in the truck for me and was really helpful, teaching me how to do it for next time. He also fixed a few minor problems, and made sure that absolutely everything was working perfectly. I completely trust the guy and will do business with him again.

ARB Snorkle

To whom it may concern:

I had the pleasure of attending the Rocky Mountain Land Cruiser Association’s (RMLCA) “River Shiver” February 17th to 20th, 2006 in Waiparous, Alberta. This Toyota Land Cruiser Association-sanctioned event was wonderful. It was well organized, offered beautiful scenery and challenges for the truck. The RMLCA members were superb hosts – good guys (and gals!) all. The River Shiver is highly recommended if you love the outdoors, hanging out with a good crew and winter-wheelin’ your Cruiser.

As part of that event, the Sunday after-supper activities included a raffle of prizes donated by various sponsors for this event. I was fortunate to win an Safari snorkel donated by Luxury Imports. Luxury Imports is a perennial sponsor of this event, I understand, and a stalwart of the Canadian Land Cruiser scene. The JDM Cruisers they import are well regarded locally as quality product with superb support by Mr. Wayne Smith & his team. Wayne is a member of the RMLCA and was my contact for the delivery and install of my snorkel.

I have had numerous dealings with Mr. Wayne Smith of Luxury Imports and have found him to be a great resource for all things Land Cruiser, for technical assistance and an excellent trail guide/trail host. Wayne arranged for quick delivery of the snorkel for my 1977 FJ40 and arranged for a convenient time for me to bring my truck around for the install.

The snorkel itself was beautiful with all parts and materials required for the install included with the kit from Safari. Wayne personally installed the snorkel on my vehicle and made the minor modifications required to the truck and kit to customize it for my application. He even allowed me to “assist” him although my help probably doubled the install time. Half the fun of having a Cruiser is the wrenching and Wayne knows that – he made sure winning the snorkel was a good experience for me. That’s the kind of classy outfit that Luxury Imports & Wayne Smith are. The snorkel went on in about a couple of leisurely hours with good conversation and no glitches. The final product looks great!

With the Safari snorkel on the ’40, I am now looking for deeper water and mud to plow into. Thanks Wayne and Luxury Imports for a great time at the River Shiver, for the snorkel and for a good time putting it on. If you’re looking for a JDM Cruiser, for technical assistance for your rig or just a good guy to “talk Cruiser” with, check out Mr. Wayne Smith and Luxury Imports. You’ll be glad you did.

Morning Wayne,

I wanted to drop a quick note to you on how I believe I have hit the jackpot in buying this PZJ77 from you. After 2 weeks of owning it, I am very happy on the performance and condition of the vehicle. You and I have spoken many times in the past on getting the right Landcruiser truck for me and YOU have lived up to your reputation. Your support and knowledge on landcruisers is a strong asset. You did many things in behind the scenes to ensure that this truck met my expectations/perceptions. That in itself say's a lot. I can see why after reading (and dreaming) on your website why so many of your customers are happy with your service and professionalism.

Just this week alone, people have stopped me and questioned me on the truck because the way it looked and where they can purchase one like this....with out hesitation, I hand them your card. My only problem with the truck ...Is that my wife wants to drive it because it is so unique!!!! Oh well, I guess that means I will have to get another one from you.....

Thank you, once again for the great service and a GREAT truck!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheer's

1990 Delica P35W

Last fall I was looking to buy another vehicle to replace my Jeep TJ, as it was getting more and more difficult to hoist my toddler into his seat in the back. I wanted something ?family friendly? but still wanted to be able to do light off-roading.

I was considering Land Cruisers because of their reputation for reliability and longevity, and was reading a Land Cruiser forum on the Internet where I came across the name of Wayne Smith. Reading about all the good things other people had to say about him, I decided to check out LuxuryImports.ca.

At the time, Wayne only had two-door Cruisers for sale, but I came across a really cool 4x4 diesel van with low mileage. I did NOT want to drive a minivan, but this one did not look like all the rest, and it fit my requirements, so I said "Why not?" and decided to check it out. I called Wayne, asked a load of questions which he was happy to answer, and set up a test drive of a Delica he already had in Calgary, and absolutely loved it.

After doing many days of research about the vehicles, and asking Wayne tons more questions, I decided to buy it, sight unseen. Wayne supplied me with many photos and reviewed the inspection reports with me so I knew exactly what I was getting, and kept me informed of its progress while it travelled from Japan to Canada. I was so excited when Wayne contacted me to say it was landed in Vancouver and on its way to Calgary. He also showed me photos of another Delica he just purchased in Japan, and this one was in even better condition than the first one. Despite having to wait a little bit longer, I decided to trade up. The wait was well worth it, I ended up with a low mileage beauty that the appraisal report described as ?show condition?.

I must say it has been a pleasure dealing with Wayne and this has been my best experience ever in buying a vehicle. He has been happy to answer my many questions, been upfront and honest about the strengths and weaknesses of the vehicle, and has been very focused on making me a happy customer. I love my new Delica, and would not hesitate to purchase another vehicle from Luxury Imports. My boy likes it too, from his perch in the back he can look out over traffic and see what is going on around him. Thanks Wayne!

1991 BMW 535i

This is the second vehicle I purcahsed from Wayne Smith of Luxury Imports. I have to say the second time is as enjoyable as the first. The first vehicle is a 1990 Toyota Land Cruiser HDJ81 and second one is a 1991 BMW 535i with only 24000 km. It is in better condition than I expected and what Wayne described to me before it arrived. Wayne had to spend about $1200 to do certain regulation upgrades on the vehicle so it could register in Alberta and he did all that without even mentioning to me. I truly appreciate Wayne's honesty and integrity.

1990 HDJ81 VX LTD

After doing a lot of research on both Landcruiser HDJ81's and Wayne, I decided to take the risk and buy big blue. I didn't have the luxury of seeing the vehicle before hand because I live 3600km away! For me this was a huge risk buying a vehicle unseen from an unknown individual a long way away.

From the get go I inundated Wayne with emails and phone calls. Wayne didn't even blink. He answered all emails and questions, taking the time to explain things to me. It was very refreshing because so many businesses can be curt and short with you, not Wayne at all.

Wayne did an excellent job of preparing big blue, any very minor issues were dealt with no questions asked and without any second thought on his part. We spent several days running around in the truck doing errands and getting ready for my trip back. Wayne gave freely of his time and advice without a hint of "looking down his nose" at you.

The 81's are just a recent addition to the Canadian market and it's still a bit of a learning curve for all involved. Wayne is taking this in stride and by the looks of things enjoying it. Little things like replacing the stereo with a North American head unit sounds simple enough but in this vehicle it's easier said than done. Wayne just shrugs his shoulders and says "I said I'd install a new radio and I will."

As to the vehicle. Well it's large (about the size of a GMC Envoy), comfortable, confidence inspiring with the four wheel drive and a joy to drive. On the drive across Canada we encountered everything from dry roads and sunny skies to snow storms in Northern Ontario. Nothing phased this truck, especially the snow. Driving on the right hand side posed no real issues as others have already stated. On the 3600km drive home at highway speeds and based on GPS, fuel economy returned about 24mpg (imperial gallons.) Not too shabby for a vehicle that weighs 6000lbs and is full time 4wd.

All in all I am VERY HAPPY with Luxury Imports, Wayne's professionalism and big blue. I'm even considering selling my wife's Volvo and coming back out to buy another one!

Will definitely be a return customer and would obviously recommend Wayne without reservation.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Wayne for his patience and honesty in buying my first off-road vehicle.

When I first said I may be interested in looking into a Land Cruiser the next thing I knew I was invited to go off-roading with them. Having never been before and having no idea the capabilities of these machines, I was surely impressed. They even let me behind the wheel. A little hesitant and nervous, Wayne quickly eased my mind and made me feel very comfortable driving. Having to talk me through a few sketchy sections I am convinced he knows his stuff and is a great teacher.

1990 BMW 735i

I have always dreamed of owning a 5 or 7 Series Beamer but it seemed out of reach until I heard about "Luxury Imports" from a friend. I told Wayne what I was looking for. He said no problem, then went to work.

Surprisingly in no time he called me up and said he had found the perfect vehicle for me. He sent me pictures of this immaculate 525I and I fell in love. Well I thought I was in love, until I saw the 735I he had. Needless to say I bought the 735I instead and now my wife is in love with me all over.

1990 Mitsubishi Delica

I needed a van for winter. I live in Nelson BC and I am a musician (wassabinet) so I needed a 4WD and lots of room. I was ready to buy an Astro or Safari AWD. Then I heard some friends talking about a 4WD Diesel Toyota van from Japan. The next day I searched the web and found my new van at Luxury Imports.ca. It's Mitsubishi Delica and it looks like a moon rover, what a cool ride! I love it. It only had 37,000 km on it, no rust, BEAUTIFUL.

Looking forward to making more eco-conscience purchases it has been my dream for a while to stop buying gasoline vehicles and make the move to diesel. Bio diesel is used vegetable oil from deep fryers put through a relatively simple process to become ready for any diesel engine. ( I will be waiting till my warranty is up 'cause Wayne doesn't yet know enough about it) biodiesel smells like fries and has NO TOXIC EMISSIONS!

I am really happy with my new van. Right from the start Wayne told me he is not a salesman. He loves these vehicles almost to the point of a fetish and he is able to bring in,, clean up, repair anything the need and offer these incredible low mileage vehicles for other lovers of the unique.

I feel total confidence in Wayne's abilities and his honesty. When I have a question I can usually reach him right away on his cell or by email. If I email him he usually responds by the next day. Wayne knows his stuff. He tells is like it is and when he recommends upgrades it never feels like he is trying to make money. He wants every vehicle to run great and last.

Wayne and his wife Berni made me feel like family.

I recommend Luxury Imports and Wayne to anybody interested in Japanese diesel vehicles. I am very happy with my new ride.

Thank you Wayne

Dear Wayne,

Connie and I are happy to have joined your growing family of very satisfied customers, and also to be able to go on record about the first class vehicle and service you’ve given us.

In the course of the year that I was " in the market ", looking for a clean, loaded and low mileage diesel Land Cruiser, I got to know you as a straight shooter who always had, and continues to have time for our questions.

We’ve had our 1990 HDJ81 VX LTD for two months now and it is everything you and the pictures said it would be. Connie and I especially appreciated your "delivery service" and your helpful advice since then, as we get to know the vehicle.

In writing this letter of appreciation I’m reminded of how I first found out about you and Luxury Imports. Out skiing, we saw a clean HJ61 parked next to the Elbow River. I left a note on the windshield and the owner called me. All the good things he told me about you, and the way you do business, have also been my happy experience now.

Cheers,

Why I like my "Mishi",

When I was first contacted that Mishi, was going to be available. I was emailed a complete set of pictures, with a written guarantee of the condition of the vehicle; I felt comfortable to make the deposit. When she arrived at the expected time, I was so amazed by her like new appearance. The interior was immaculate, spacious, never smoked in and met all my requirements. Learning to drive on the right hand side was not a difficult task.. Since I live in a condo complex the initial start of the vehicle was of concern to me as I did not want to risk offending my neighbors with fumes that most diesels emit on a cold day. Wayne recommended correcting the situation by installing a wabasto heater, which is not a cheap option, but certainly worth its value, as the vehicle starts immediately and produces no emissions other than a warm vehicle at start up. It can be fired up at any temperature with out plugging in the vehicle and can be programmed for specific times. The service and product provided , assured me I had received very honest and sound advice from Luxury imports. I would recommend to the person interested in a unique, HIGH-END vehicle, that they consult Luxury Imports.

I finally joined the world of 4X4's with a 1989 LJ71 and I feel great about this truck. I really think Wayne was straight forward and honest when it came down to telling me the history and capabilities and every other detail about this specific Land Cruiser.

It took me no time at all to adapt myself to right hand drive. I love the look on people's faces everywhere. I'm very proud of my Land Cruiser, it's most definitely a keeper and I plan to give it all the TLC it requires.

I haven't explored it's full off-roading capabilities but so far it was amazing in mud, gravel, dirt, snow and ice. Most of all I feel very safe in this "brick on wheels" and it's comfortable even after 10 hours of non-stop driving.

In the future I plan to add a bush guard, roof rack, propane injection and a few other goodies.

Thanks again Wayne for having been so honest about this truck and I definitely plan to pass the word around when people ask me where I found this truck.

1990 HDJ81 VX LTD

I have had the pleasure of driving a 1990 HDJ81 VX LTD for a couple of months now and I'm very impressed by the unit and really appreciate the service and honesty from Wayne Smith. Wayne did everything he said he would and more. This is honestly the best experience I had buying a vehicle from anybody. The vehicle is superb. It feels and looks and drives like a new truck. I still cannot believe how lucky I am to own this truck. It is literally the best car/truck I have ever had the pleasure of driving.

My wife calls it my mistress. I think she is just jealous that I like something so much.

Anyway, I just love everything about driving it. For anyone who is afraid of driving a right hand drive vehicle, I would say if you know how to drive properly, you will not have problem driving a RHD vehicle. The hardest thing to get use to is looking at the rear mirror.

This is a truck I can see myself owning for a long time and I really want to thank Wayne for his help and technical support.

I recommend Luxury Imports to anyone seriously interested in owning a fine example of the best trucks ever built - the Toyota Land Cruiser.

I bought this 1989 BJ74 low-mileage (28,000 km) import last Spring from Wayne. It was hard to believe the condition.Showroom condition is not an understatement, with A/C,power every-option imaginable,a PTO winch.Too nice to take off road I just drive it Spring to Fall and park it over winter.

That's Wayne hiding behind it in the picture.

The Lift Kit and 35" tires were put on this year and really make it look sharp.Wayne was great help in arranging that. So after 11/2 years of knowing him what can I tell you about him? I was naturally nervous about buying a vehicle from someone completely unknown. Now,I am glad that we met. No BS or "salesman's bluff" from this easy-going man. Every question you ask will get an honest answer. Today I consider him a friend. His knowledge about Toyotas is free and my beloved rustbucket BJ42 (23 years old and still going, haha) gets any needed maintenance done from him.

If anybody wants to speak to one of your customers, Wayne, you can use me as a reference.

Thank you for the entire experience of buying a vehicle from your company "luxury Imports".

I was very hesitant on sending half the money to secure the Toyota Blizzard, nevertheless, you understood fully and gave me some credible references that I phoned immediately.

I came away from talking to your previous customers with the confidence that you were a "stand-up" guy with a passion and extensive knowledge of Toyota Land cruisers.

Your responses to my e-mails and calls were prompt and informative. I was sent in excess of 60 photos of every aspect and stage of the shipping from Yokohama Port. This calender of events consistently reassured me of the transaction.

My wife and I flew from Comox direct Calgary to pick up the vehicle on the Sept long weekend. Wayne was there to pick us up and took us for breakfast. We arrived at his house to see crusher heaven. Numerous types of turbo diesel and most of them insured for you to test drive. After viewing the fleet and dreaming alittle, we finished the deal and my wife and I were on our way.

I am back on the island now and ready to put my order in with Wayne for my favourite crusher...wife says I have to sell one of the two I already have though.

There were numerous companies located closer in Vancouver that I researched before "luxury Imports". They all wanted all the money upfront and they just didn't give me a good feeling when I spoke with them.

My wife recommends "luxury Imports" and applauds the personal touch that Wayne is applying to this complex business of importing Landcruiser gems into Canada for us.

Being in the military, I appreciated the effieciency in which all aspects of the transaction were handled in an informative and timely manner.

Wayne,

I just wanted to take a minute to drop you a note saying thank you. As you may recall, I stumbled upon a post on ih8mud for the FJ45. You had a lot of pictures posted as well as a ton of great information on it. From the time we first spoke and exchanged emails you were completely candid and a pleasure to deal with. I was nervous about buying a vehicle both site unseen and from another country then having to import it. I talked to a few friends and everyone had great things to say about you. Well, now I reiterate their feelings. The entire transaction went smoothly and the truck I took possession of was as described. I love the 45. Importing it, due to age, was nothing more than filling out a few forms and now I get to drive it to work any time I want etc.

I have dealt with all types of vendors with varying degrees of integrity. I would have absolutely no hesitation in highly recommending Luxury Imports to anyone I know.

Thank you again for a super experience.

Wayne,

I love my HJ61! Thank you so much for striving to import only the finest quality, low km trucks available, as well as for your honesty and integrity in the way you conduct your business. I am still absolutely amazed at the care and patience you have with your customers. Thank you for spending as much time as you did with me, answering all my questions, and providing me with such excellent customer service. Your attention to your customers is so far ahead of all the other importers out there. Having researched other importers I can conclusively say that you are the best out there- reliable, honest, trustworthy, and competitively priced. And, you offer a warrantee on the trucks you import! The fact that you have been working on and restoring Landcruisers for over 20 years really made me feel secure in the knowledge that you know these trucks inside and out, and are always available as a resource for repairs and maintenance.

And of course, the truck itself drives amazingly well. The ride is quiet and smooth, and the right hand drive and manual shifter on the left was surprisingly easy to learn for both my wife and I. The many options available on this truck really add to the capability and enjoyment of the truck. It is one of the finest examples of an HJ61 that I have ever seen. I plan on enjoying this truck for many years to come and have been telling anyone interested in a right hand drive ‘cruiser to give you a call, because you are without a doubt the best importer around. BJ44 owner

I wanted to thank you for all your efforts over the past six months during the purchase of my BJ44. I was very pleased that your description of the vehicle and its condition were extremely accurate, resulting in me receiving a vehicle that was exactly what I expected. I also wanted to commend you on the upgrades that you performed on my behalf. The body work and the paint were done very well and I feel as though I received a bargain on the partial restoration. I was extremely pleased with all aspects of our exchanges, both the quickness of your responses and the completeness of the information you provided. I'm not sure I would have been able to import the vehicle into the US quite so easily without your attention to detail, responsiveness, and knowledge of the process.

In every aspect, I am very happy to have done business with you and your shop and I look forward to doing business with you in the future. Please use me as a reference for any future clients.

Thanks once again.

I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank yourself and Luxury Imports for your involvement with this years annual River Shiver. Your leadership and knowledge as trail boss made the trip most enjoyable. I would also like to thank you for the generous donation of the propane injection system that I was fortunate enough to win at the evenings draw. It made a wonderful addition to my JDM spec HJ61. The power gain has been fantastic!!

Customer From Victoria

I just wanted to thank you very much for your time in helping me trouble shoot my non starting Land cruiser yesterday. It was a big help, and showed me that I need to find a good diesel mechanic where I live!! Turns out that there was air in the fuel line, and thanks to your advice, I switched the Toyota mechanic's attention from searching for glow plug problems to looking at the fuel system... 10 mins later....vvvvrooom. Starts now without even turning over once... its great! I really appreciate the time and help you gave me, thank you very very much!

1989 BJ74 Customer

Thank you so much for the BJ74 is was exactly as you described it to me and just like the pictures, Mint condition, low miles, and loaded with options. I have been wanting on of these BJ74 for at least 3 years and you got me the nicest one available on the market, and am very pleased with it.

I have made it a point in my life to only deal with companies that are up to my standards of customer service, honestly and quality. Wayne you company is a shining example of all of these qualities and more. You were completely up front and honest about my cruiser, supplied all the pictures I needed, did an awesome job checking out the Cruiser once it showed up in Canada. You seem to weed out the not so desirable cruisers and pick the nicest ones available. If that is not enough you have all sorts of extras/services you can do to the cruiser if I want or need them, truly a one stop shop. You provide all of this and yet still manage to have the best customer service, Luxury Imports is the standard that all other importers should try to live up too.

Anytime I ever want imported Cruisers I will only deal with Luxury Imports.

Thank You Wayne

1989 Toyota Corolla Customer

Wayne,

I am delighted with the 89 Toyota Corolla I bought from Luxury Imports. The car had just 2061 km and was in like new condition. For a surprisingly low price I have gained efficient, low cost, and trouble free driving for hopefully the next 10 years.
The car handles beautifully. The right hand drive has been easy to adjust to, and is not problem in traffic. I personally recommend the Luxury Imports right hand drive vehicles to anyone.

1986 BJ60 Customer

Wayne,

I first met Wayne with my old rusty 81 Land Cruiser. He helped me with some of the rust and other mechanicle issues. He was always very helpful and knowledgeable. This spring (2004) he showed up in my town of Canmore with a beautiful rust free, low km, BJ60 from Japan - just what i always wanted!( I had been telling him that I was looking for one, in a reasonable price range, and there it was delivered to me! )

My new Cruiser is a beautiful '86 BJ60 - came with only 153,000 km. I have had no problems at all with my new cruiser and it runs great! (not to mention the reasonable price i got it for.) Wayne is always very helpful with any questions I have and is always available for any little extras I need. Thanks so much for everything Wayne!

HJ61 Customer

Wayne,

Well, I’ve had the pleasure of driving the HJ-61 for a couple of months now and I still cannot believe how lucky I am to own this truck. It is literally the best set of wheels I have ever had the pleasure of driving. Well, except for my brother’s 1962 Porsche 356 but that’s another story....

Anyway, I just love everything about driving it, the ride is light-years ahead of my first LandCruiser - a 1982 BJ-60 - the engine pulls like a locomotive AND its so quiet I can have a conversation with my front AND back seat passengers without having to shout. This truck turns heads everywhere I go and not just because it’s right-hand-drive, I get compliments on it from people whenever I stop. But the highest praise I’ve received so far is from my long-suffering wife who said to me, “Well, finally you own a truck I’m not embarrassed to be seen in”….. Now that really made my day!!

This is a truck I can see myself owning for a long long time Wayne and I really want to thank you, not only for allowing me to buy this unit and deprive Berni of her favourite ride (you’re either a brave or a foolish man, Wayne) but also for your generous guidance and technical support over the years while I tinkered away with my old BJ-60.

You really have a knack for finding, fixing and driving the finest LandCruisers in the world and I’m proud to own one of your trucks. I recommend Luxury Imports to anyone seriously interested in owning a fine example of the best trucks ever built - the Toyota Land Cruiser.

Happy wheeling!

LJ71 Customer

In June of 2004 I was thinking about trading in my 1985 60 Land Cruiser for something newer, my 60 had about 500,000 km on it and it had been a very reliable vehicle that could get me to work when the April/May snow storms hit hard in the foothills of Alberta. Wayne had worked on my 60 and mentioned that if I ever wanted to trade up he was importing high quality used Land Cruisers.

I was looking for something with a little more power for the hills and for passing, but also with good mileage as I commute about 100 km every day. He sent me an email with pictures of several Land Cruisers arriving in June and July. The one that I was interested in was a 1988 LJ71 with a turbo diesel, only 68,000 km and in Immaculate condition. Wayne let me test drive it for a few days to see if I liked it. As it turnedout he had to ask me if I was ever going to give it back. The LJ71 has many extras that you could never get on Land Cruisers here, like suspension seats, power windows, power door locks and power mirrors, just to mention a few of the options. It is a very clean vehicle in show room condition.

The power from the turbo charged 2L diesel is also impressive (no more gearing down on the hills). Fuel economy is excellent at 30 mpg. Warranty service has been very good, as there were a couple of minor problems that Wayne fixed after I purchased the vehicle. The right hand drive was easier than I thought to get used to, including shifting with my left hand. The only problem is once in a while I go to get in on the left side. Friends tell me the steering is on the wrong side, and I say," No, it's on the right side". I was on vacation in BC and saw an LJ71 just like mine and I regret not asking the owner if he liked his as much as I enjoy driving mine.

Wayne Thank you for this wonderful truck. Its a joy to own and operate. Your concern and your knowledge is an asset to everyone; buying a Land Cruiser from you. Don't ever change. I thank you for teaching me some of the finer points in care and operation of my new toy. The right hand drive is second nature to me; and everywhere I go I get thumbs up from people I meet and your name gets mentioned in every conversation I have.

In 1991, I purchased a FJ60, and it was a great truck. My only regret - I did not buy it from you. However, I am Happy Eric still has it and calls it "Lucky". The second was purchased in April '04 a BJ42 which my daughter Becky is using, and calls it "Daisy". It is very much her truck now. I am glad and proud that she made such a wise decision. My LJ71 I call "Eljay". So you can say we're a Land Cruiser family. Now I wonder - What my fourth Land Cruiser will be??? Good Luck & Keep On Cruising!

BJ74 Customer

I've had my BJ42 Land Cruiser since it was new in 1982. Not many people have had an original Cruiser that long!Over that time it's distinguished itself as the legendary, rugged, tough machine that it is in the mud of the northern Alberta oilpatch. It's taken me reliably from Inuvik to Mexico and about 300,000 other kilometers with no major mechanical troubles and has the original clutch. However, steel's mortal enemy rust was taking a terrible toll on my beloved Toy and I started patching holes last summer to get it waterproof for the winter. The more I patched, the more damage showed up especially on the frame.

Which is how I came to meet Wayne Smith. Searching the 'Net looking for a frame/advice/an opinion....anything to help decide what if anything could be done about the frame. Lots of phone calls got me a lot of contradictory opinions. Then I came upon Crushersrule web page. A very impressive page indeed. So contact was made, and I parked over his pit and he gave it a look-see. Initial reservations about spending many $$$ on repairs to someone I just met quickly subsided. He indeed has a true passion for Land Cruisers. A look over some of his restored Cruisers showed a pride in workmanship as if it was his own vehicle. To rebuild my Toy from the frame up,he explained every aspect of the job, different options possible, and answered all questions. No pressure to commit and no feeling of being strung along. He said to think about it a few days and call him back.

Now,with a rough idea of the cost to restore it.....I had to decide if it was worth it on a drivetrain that would need work in a few years. To that concern,he told me to look at his 4-sale section at a certain BJ74 turbocharged Cruiser. Ignore the advertised price, think about putting the money towards that for a few days and call him back he said. Well now I have a beautiful, low mileage luxury Land Cruiser as well as my venerable BJ42 to play with.

Anybody looking for Toyota repairs, restoration,or a luxury import I have no problem recommending Wayne. You'll not be pressured or bs'd. You'll either end up with a quality repair job,a restoration you will be proud of or a quality import. By the way...a right-hand drive vehicle is very easy to get used to. Most important, you always get in and out from the curb not the middle of the road! Thanks Wayne....Crushers do rule.

PS Wayne's vast knowledge of everything Toyota is as accessible as a phone call to him. I like that.

Personally i just wanted to thank you myself, not only for the 61 or working on our trucks over the years but for what you have taught me about these trucks in themselves and 4x4ing, i couldn't have done it by myself. I am lucky enough to drive this truck now but my day will come when i may have to give it back to my parents! but i will still love Cruisers forever!

BJ74 Customer

Hi Wayne,

Well she made it home in one piece (well sort of, minus the 1' chunk we cut from the frame). The swap is in progress and the newly revived FJ60 with 13BT diesel power will be on the road again soon.

I just wanted to take a second to tell you thanks for all your help. I can't believe that 4 months ago Landcruisers were foreign to me. They always seemed like great rigs but not coming stock with diesels in the US made them a distant sight for me. A friend of mine (quite a mechanic and doesn't see stock limitations as an obstacle) and I sat down one night and began the search for Toyota Diesels to drop into my recently purchased dying, gas guzzling FJ60.

As a daily driver the improvements are many. The most noticeable is the power especially on the freeway. We came across several folks that could get motors for me but the thing that kept coming up was that they didn't really know what I was talking about. I had read all the FAQ sections of different cruiserhead sites and was fairly familiar with different motors/tranny combos and knew what I wanted. Most of these dealers down here in the states (california to be exact) deal mostly with gassers and don't really care or want to help you out with cruiser diesels.

When I came across Crushersrule on the internet I was intrigued. I fired off a quick email and a reply came back rather quickly to give a call. From the first phone call I'd say I was impressed with your integrity and knowledge of cruisers. It was nice to not be treated skeptically based on my project plans. Each phone call and email left me with more information than I sometimes knew what to do with; most of it based on your personal experience and educated recommendations. It was also made clear to me that once the dollars exchanged hands the transaction wasn't over. You stand behind your deals and back up what you sell. I know that if I have questions I can give a ring or email and a response will come shortly. This is worth so much in my book.

I won't hesitate to send folks your way and as we talked about at breakfast at Ricky's. Firemen are notorious for giving recommendations or telling folks to stay away from a business.

Thanks again and see you on the trail.

Wayne!

You probably have a general feeling of how excited one of your clients is when he hears this news. Try multiplying it by 10!

My '85 BJ60 has become a part of our family in the last 6 years. To see it go through the difficulties of the last couple of weeks has been hard. Even now, after it has been repaired, it's hard to realize that it's time to replace it but I know that it will end-up in a place where it can benefit another enthusiast, rebuild another truck, or be a great trail rig for someone who can afford to play with it.

The best part of the whole ordeal for me and for my family is that we can still enjoy the LandCruiser experience, thanks to you.

Sometimes it must feel like you want to stop doing what you do. A hard day, a stubborn rusted-out part, an a**hole customer, a shipping problem, whatever. I believe that we all have some thing that we're supposed to do with our life, and I hope you have a chance daily to notice how much pleasure you give others by doing what you've chosen to do. I hope that my efforts in Massage Therapy will come close to what you do. Hopefully the same efforts that "pay the bills" also give you a spiritual lift and make it all worthwhile.

Other clients may not give you this type of feedback. If they do, when you get it you may not be in the right "place" to appreciate it, but I hope (when you gaze at the mountain range or you watch a sunrise) that you get the message that you're in the right place.

Anyway, maybe it's better to read this after a couple of shots of scotch, than after your first coffee of the morning. This is how I'm feeling, and I can't wait to start enjoying the BJ74.

Thanks a million, Wayne!

Dan Morrison
