Will Canadians Go to the US for 2022 WSOP in Las Vegas?
The pandemic plaguing the world for more than a year and a half now puts obstacles in front of poker players who want to play at Las Vegas during this 2022 World Series. First, it caused them not to be able to do so live-action event altogether; but as if things weren’t bad enough with just one problem already on their plate – they’ve got another coming up soon!
We’ll have to wait and see, won’t we?
Reminder of 88 Events on Tap
The 2021 World Series of Poker is set up in a way that tries to include everyone. They offered online bracelet events and tournaments, but only for those who can’t get enough action at home or abroad- so far, 33 GGPoker tables are open, too!
The WSOP Europe has been a huge success, with many players travelling from all over to participate in this year’s card game. There are still some bracelet events left until mid-November, which means that if you’re looking for an opportunity at glory, then now might be your time! King’s Casino doesn’t have too much preparation work before they can host these types of competitions; however, it’ll help them get ready better than most other places would do.
When the WSOP was moved to late fall, it seemed like there would be more time for vaccines. However, with Covid-19 protocols still in effect and an 88 event schedule over three months (September 30th – November 23rd), players must prepare themselves early if they want their shot at glory!
The WSOP is still planning for the 2022 season. But its protocols are being finalized and could change at any time!
WSOP Tries Covid-19 Rule Version 1
This year’s World Series of Poker has major changes that excite poker players and the media. For instance, there is a new ACH option for tournament buy-ins as well as betting clarifications about verbal declarations of bets when someone calls out “all in” but then later folds their hand without making any moves on the board – this was an issue before because it wasn’t clear if you could take these kinds wins or not! And finally: the lost and found chips policy will now be administered by T Swanson, imparting his trademark sense.
When the pandemic came, it was too late for some people. The rules were unclear and difficult to understand, which left them feeling frustrated in their struggle against this new reality of life with an unknown road ahead full stop- no matter how hard you try, there will always be something blocking your path that doesn’t feel right or make sense but what can we do? Let go is easier said than done when everyone around us has gone mad so let’s focus on helping those who still seem sane enough.
- If a player receives a positive test result or came within 6 feet for 15 cumulative minutes of any person testing positive for Covid-18, they can be removed from any WSOP event at any time.
- If a player refuses to undergo health/safety screenings by the Rio, they can be refused participation in any WSOP event.
- Players removed for these reasons “shall not be entitled to any compensation or remuneration.” Those in the money of a tournament could still cash out, but all others would lose their buy-ins – no refunds.
The rules of poker are unclear. The broad definition that someone could be disqualified if they come into contact with an infected person leaves all discretion up to the WSOP officials, which has led many players and dealers alike to be uncertain about their fate should a cure not yet exist for Covid-19 Positive The unvaccinated may receive fines or worse due simply because we’re still unsure how this will play out when it comes down to interactions at events such as these.
The blowback was harsh, but it taught me a lot about how people react online and in person.
WSOP Amends Covid-19 Rule
The WSOP has clarified their rules for social media participation. The organization’s Twitter statement reads, “We want everyone to have an enjoyable experience while they’re watching or participating in our events, so we’ve made some changes that should help clear up any confusion on how these things work!”
“The safety of our World Series players and team members is Caesars Entertainment’s top priority. To that end, we will operate following CDC guidelines while also following applicable rules from local governments and federal regulations at all times.”
The WSOP has announced that they will not require all participants known to have been exposed or vaccinated within the appropriate timing parameters. While those with symptoms but no Covid-19 exposure history may still leave and quarantine if needed.
“As the Covid-19 situation evolves, we will continue to work with our team of experts in public health and safety as well local government. Our policies also change based on new guidance that becomes available.”
“We are committed to providing the safest environment possible for players who want nothing more than a safe return on their investment.”
Players exposed to Covid-19 should not automatically be disqualified from tournaments, but they must prove that their immune system is up and running. I’ve set out some options for how people might do this: 1) Vaccinated within the last year 2), Have immunity due to restrictions like age or pregnancy 3). Self-explanatory – say “yes!”
It is important to remember that this situation may change anytime.
Negreanu later clarified that he had been misquoted by saying, “My lawyer didn’t give me a specific dollar amount, but I’m assuming it’s in the hundreds of thousands.” In addition, Daniel also said these things: “It’s not about money for me; It is more so how much your brand stands behind its athletes…I would like some clarity because right now, we are just guessing at what could happen next.
- “No on-site testing or proof of vaccine required (as of today).”
- “WSOP will not DQ a player unless they volunteer they have tested positive.”
- “Any contact tracing done by CDC in Nevada is independent of the WSOP.”
The latest updates on the Delta variant of Covid-19 have caused a major shift in vaccine distribution, causing CDC guidelines to change almost weekly. These changes are likely going to continue as we see more misinformation and skepticism spread about vaccines due to Las Vegas hospitalization numbers dropping since they implemented their mask mandate for casino customers who may contract hotel rooms where there’s an outbreak or exposure risk associated with certain illnesses like SARS (Severe Acute Respir Syndrome).
There are a variety of potential reasons for this notification. The most likely is that you must wear some type or another, but it could also mean there’s an increased risk from Covid-19 exposure and testing is required to ensure public safety. Or maybe they’re just trying their best to protect us against all threats, so we’ll know what steps need to be taken next time around if anything should happen again!
Canadians Should Fly to Vegas
Travelers to Las Vegas should be aware of the recent restrictions on Canadian visitors. The US Department Of Homeland Security has extended current visa regulations for Americans travelling abroad until September 21st, so it’s best not to miss this chance!
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have issued a Level 2 travel notice, meaning Americans should only go about their business as usual when travelling to Canada. This is not an official policy from either country; rather, it’s just one recommendation among many others based on current events or outbreaks being seen in either location lately- such decisions will be made case by case, depending on what’s happening there at any given time!
- All airline passengers to the US from Canada ages two and older must provide a negative Covid-19 viral test taken within three days of the travel – OR – documentation from a licensed health care provider that the passenger recovered from Covid-19 within the 90 days before the travel date.
- People driving across the border must do so for “essential” reasons. These include residing in the US, serving in the military, travelling for medical or government purposes, attending school, engaging in legal trade (e.g., truckers), or working.
There are several reasons why you might want to travel abroad for work or pleasure. E Essential Travel provides the perfect solution with our tailored packages! On Friday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced that airline travellers do not need to provide proof of essential travel, only negative Covid-19 testing.
